Let me clarify the position of this article first. Membo is a place where you can view job postings all in one place, but it is not a place where you can directly apply to job postings from other sites. Applications and communication for the collected job postings must be done on the original posting site. I will explain this in more detail in Chapters 4 and 5, but if you keep this in mind before reading on, you should not end up thinking "this is not what I expected" after finishing the article. All the features described are based on what was verified with the production data and implementation as of September 29, 2026. I have made sure not to write about anything that I have not verified.

2. There are two types of job postings listed.

Membo 's job listings display two types of listings. One type consists of listings directly posted to Membo , and the other consists of listings automatically collected from other job sites. Directly posted listings are those managed by the person who wrote them within Membo . Listings collected from other sites are those that Membo automatically imports and displays from the original sites.

Let's look at the numbers to see what the proportions are. As of September 29, 2026, there were 3,579 job postings displayed. Of these, 3,550 were collected from other sites, and 29 were posted directly to Membo . In other words, at this point, most of the job postings listed are collected from other sites. These numbers change daily, so please read this as "actual figures as of September 29, 2026."

This configuration has clear advantages. It reduces the effort required to visit each recruitment site individually. Some people recruit band members on only one site, while others post on multiple sites. If someone tries to visit all of them, they have to re-enter their search criteria on each site. If the list is all in one place, they can view recruitment postings from multiple sites side by side with a single refinement. The real value of being able to see "guitarist recruitment postings in my prefecture this week" with just one search is a good example.

On the other hand, there are some things to keep in mind. The recruitment information we have gathered is simply taken from the original website. When the recruitment details are updated or the recruitment ends, the latest status may not be immediately reflected in Membo . We will address this point again in Chapter 7.

If you see several similar job postings, compare the names of the source websites. Source names will be explained in Chapter 4. If the same person posts job openings on multiple sites, it's possible that what appears to be the same job posting is actually from a different site. In such cases, you can choose which site's posting is the most detailed and contact them from there.

3. Source website (as of September 2026)

As of September 2026, we have confirmed that there are 12 websites that serve as sources for recruitment data. Of these, 11 are still automatically importing data daily. The remaining one, AT JAZZ, has stopped automatic importing since August 15, 2026. The names of these websites are as follows:

The table above lists the names of sites that we were able to confirm as sources. Links are provided only for sites whose homepages we actually opened and verified to display correctly (HTTP status 200). Sites without links are listed only by name because we were unable to verify their official homepages for this article.

Let me add a point about the counting method. There are 10 names listed in the table above, but I wrote that there are 12 sources. In the table, I wrote that for MUSIN and music365, the recruiting side and the side wanting to join are imported separately. In the actual data, MUSIN and music365 are registered as separate sources for "recruiting side" and "side wanting to join," respectively. Therefore, there are 10 names, and the number of sources is 10 + 2 = 12.

Also, this list is current as of September 2026. The number of sources may increase or decrease. In fact, some sources, like AT JAZZ, have already stopped automatic importing. Please check the source name displayed on the screen (explained in the next chapter) for the latest information.

4. How to read the list ── Source name and "Go to website" button

When you browse Membo 's job listings, the names of the source websites are displayed for listings gathered from other sites. However, this only appears when the source name and the URL of the original page are available, and it doesn't appear for every listing. If you see a listing with a source name, you can immediately tell, "This listing was originally posted on XX."

When you open the details screen for a job posting, you'll see a button that says "Go to posting site." Clicking it will open the original page in a new tab. The process is to check the details on the Membo screen, and if you're interested, go back to the original page. Since it opens in a new tab, your Membo list remains intact. If you want to compare several postings, it's easiest to click "Go to posting site" for each posting that interests you and open the original pages side by side.

The following two notes are also displayed on the details screen:

This note is a guideline for reading the collected job postings. The information displayed on the screen is for reference only. It is safest to use this information with the understanding that you should check the original website for the exact current status of the job posting and whether applications are being accepted. 5. Applications and inquiries should be made through the original website.

I'll be honest here so that readers won't be confused. The Membo screen is a place to "search and find" job postings gathered from other sites. If you want to apply for a job or contact someone, you'll need to go back to the original site using the "Go to posting site" button and proceed that way. Membo does not have a system that allows you to send messages to people who have posted job openings on other sites.

The application process varies depending on the original website. Some sites have a contact form, while others require you to register and send a message. You will need to contact them according to the rules of each site. I haven't checked the application process for every single site, so I won't go into detail here. Please read the instructions on the original site before applying.

There's one more important point. Job postings gathered from other sites may be displayed on Membo while they're still open on the original sites. Before applying, it's best to check the original page to visually confirm that the job is still open. This might seem like a hassle, but it's frustrating for the applicant to receive no response. Just one quick check before applying can prevent this trouble.

On the other hand, job postings directly submitted to Membo are managed by the person who wrote them within Membo . Basic usage instructions can be found on Membo's help page , user guide , and app usage page .

6. The collected job postings are automatically translated into 5 languages.

The job postings collected on Membo are automatically translated and displayed in five languages: Japanese, English, Chinese (simplified and traditional), and Korean. We confirmed that the translation process was still running in the early morning of September 29, 2026. In other words, job postings originally written in Japanese on the site are presented in a format that can be read in languages other than Japanese.

There are a few things to keep in mind here. The translation is done automatically, so it's not translated word for word by word by a human. Some minor phrasing and part names may look slightly different from the original Japanese. If you understand Japanese, it's a good idea to check the original page in Japanese if you're unsure. If you have difficulty reading Japanese, you can use the translated screen to get a general idea of the content and then check the original site page for details.

For foreigners living in Japan, or those who want to form a band in Japan, browsing Japanese-only websites one by one is a daunting task due to the language barrier. I believe one of Membo 's strengths is that it allows you to view everything in one place and read it in your own language. 7. They disappear in about 90 days. However, they may disappear earlier.

Job postings collected from other sites are automatically removed from the list approximately 90 days after collection. Job postings directly submitted to Membo are not subject to this automatic removal. Because of this system, the list mainly consists of job postings collected relatively recently. Job postings from many years ago will not remain on the list.

However, please note that "90 days" does not necessarily mean the listing is still open for recruitment. 90 days is like an upper limit on how long a listing remains on the list. During that time, the person who posted the recruitment may have found other members and already closed the recruitment. This means that it is possible for the person who posted the recruitment to have closed the recruitment on the original site, but the listing may still remain on the list.

Knowing this difference will make applying much easier. If you don't receive a reply, there's no need to assume you weren't selected. The application period might have already ended. Conversely, as an applicant, it's important to check the original page before applying to confirm the application date and status. If the application status is stated on the original site, that's the most reliable information.

Those posting recruitment notices are also subject to the same system. If you post a recruitment notice yourself on Membo , it won't disappear automatically. 8. Four buttons for filtering

Now, let's look at how to actually narrow down your search. Membo 's recruitment page has four filtering buttons: "Favorites," "Prefecture," "Posting Period," and "Category." We'll summarize them in a table.

I will write a little more about each of them.

You can select multiple prefectures from the 47 prefectures of Japan simultaneously. For example, you can select your own prefecture and a neighboring prefecture together. This is a useful feature for people whose commuting distance extends beyond a single prefecture.

You can choose the posting period from "All," "Today," "Yesterday," "This Week," "This Month," and "Last Month," or you can specify a period yourself. Newer job postings are more likely to still be accepting applications, so I recommend starting by narrowing your search to "This Week" or "This Month." However, this is just my opinion and does not guarantee that the posting period is recent or that the job is still open. As I wrote in Chapter 7, even job postings that appear new may already have their positions filled.

The categories are a little confusing, so I'll explain them carefully. There's only one category button. Within that, you'll find 50 genres and 35 instruments listed together. Instead of separate buttons for filtering by part and genre, you open one button and then select the genre or instrument you want to search for. If you want to see guitar jobs, select "guitar" from the instruments; if you want to see rock jobs, select "rock" from the genres.

9. Keyword search and switching between two options

In addition to the four buttons, Membo 's job postings page also has a keyword search function. You can search using any words you like to narrow down your search criteria that you can't fully define with just the buttons. I think it's easiest to use the keyword search as a final step after you've narrowed down your search significantly with the buttons. If you search using only keywords from the beginning, you might miss out on job postings that you could have found otherwise, depending on how you choose your words.

There are two more things to switch between.

The "All/Membo" toggle is used when you want to see only job postings directly submitted to Membo . As mentioned before, as of September 29, 2026, there are 29 directly submitted job postings. Unlike job postings collected from other sites, these 29 postings are managed by the writers themselves within Membo , so you won't be redirected to another site by clicking "Go to posting site". Because the number is small, it is realistically possible to visually check all of them.

The "All/Recruiting/Want to Join" toggle changes the way you search. "Recruiting" shows posts from people looking for band members. "Want to Join" shows posts from people who want to join a band. You can view these two categories separately, so you can switch the list according to whether you're looking for a band or looking for band members.

10. How to structure your initial search: Starting with prefecture, category, and "This Week"

Now that you understand the functions, let's talk about how to actually combine them. The first combination I recommend is the following:

1. Under "Prefectures," select the prefectures that are within your commuting distance (you can select multiple prefectures).
2. Under "Category," select one part or genre that you are looking for.
3. Set "Submission Period" to "This Week"

Combining these three methods will narrow down your search to "job postings for part-time work in your area that came out this week." While the number of postings may not be large, this allows you to carefully read each one. If you find a posting that interests you, click "Go to posting site" on the details screen to check the status on the original page.

I'll also explain why I've chosen this order. Starting with prefectures is because it's difficult to meet people who don't live within commuting distance for practice sessions. Narrowing down by category is because if the part or genre doesn't match, the conversation won't progress. Narrowing down by submission period is because, as I wrote in Chapter 7, older postings are more likely to already be filled. However, these are just my thoughts. Feel free to change the order and combination to suit your own circumstances.

For example, if you want to start by creating music online with someone far away, you might choose to view only by category and submission period without narrowing down by prefecture. Conversely, if you simply want to meet up in a studio with people nearby, you might prioritize prefecture and broaden your search to include "this month." There's no single right answer.

11. How to expand – Remove the conditions one by one

In your initial search, you might find that very few job postings appear. In that case, remove the conditions one by one. I recommend removing them in the following order:

1. Expand the submission period from "this week" to "this month," and then to "last month."
2. Select multiple prefectures, including neighboring prefectures.
3. If you narrowed down the category by genre, change it to musical instruments; if you narrowed it down by musical instruments, change it to a different instrument or genre.
4. Finally, remove the category and just switch between the search options to see the results.

Removing conditions one by one allows you to later identify which condition was causing the application to be too narrow. Removing all conditions at once will result in a large number of applications, making it difficult to review them all. I think this approach is helpful for those looking for band members. Instead of just posting a recruitment ad and waiting, you can actively search for posts from people who want to join and find someone who seems like a good fit for your band. When you post a recruitment ad and no one applies, having an option other than waiting is reassuring.

Re-entering the same search criteria every time is a tedious task. Membo has a function to save search criteria. To save, use the ★ button. However, this function requires you to be logged in. You cannot save if you are not logged in.

For example, if you save the criteria "my prefecture, guitar, this month," you can return to the same filter with just one click next time. This reduces the effort of re-entering the criteria, allowing you to spend more time reading job postings. When you first start searching, you'll likely want to check the list every day, so this save function will definitely reduce the effort required to search.

Here too, I will limit what I can write. I will not write about whether you can be notified of new arrivals based on saved conditions, as I have not verified this. Information such as whether the recruitment is still ongoing, what the detailed conditions are, and how to apply is most accurately available on the original site.

For example, you can find a few job postings that seem to match your criteria in the Membo listings. Then, you can click "Go to listing site" only for the ones that interest you, and check the latest status on the original page. This way, you can check only what you need without having to spend time visiting every single site.
